ICSI CSEET October 2026 Observer Empanelment Closes August 31: Eligibility, ₹1,400 Honorarium and Exam Schedule

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has opened empanelment of members as General Observers for the October 2026 session of the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET), with the online application window closing on 31 August 2026. October 2026 CSEET examination schedule

Most papers are scheduled in the afternoon, with a 15-minute reading period before the examination starts.

Who can apply as a General Observer
ICSI has prescribed several eligibility and independence conditions. An applicant must be a current member of the Institute, be between 25 and 65 years of age on the date of application, and have held ICSI membership for more than three years without a break.
The member must not have a defined relative appearing in the October 2026 CSEET at any centre in India or abroad. The notice also disqualifies a member if a trainee connected with the member is appearing from the centre or centres for which the member seeks observer duty.
Applicants must also not themselves be appearing in any ICSI examination, including post-membership qualification examinations. Members of the ICSI Council, Regional Councils or Chapter Managing Committees are not eligible for this empanelment.
Conflict-of-interest restrictions
The Institute’s conditions go beyond family relationships. A member should not be associated with ICSI oral tuition classes for CSEET, private coaching arrangements or an ICSI study centre. The announcement also excludes persons acting as a Counsellor or CS Mitr.
ICSI further requires that no disciplinary or criminal proceedings be pending against the applicant before any court, the Institute or a tribunal in India or abroad. The official announcement contains a detailed definition of relatives for the purpose of the declaration, so members should review that list rather than relying on a narrow family interpretation.
Honorarium and application process
ICSI has fixed an honorarium of ₹1,400 per day for General Observer duty. The notice makes clear that no other allowance will be paid. Applications must be filed through the official Observer Portal; offline requests are not contemplated in the announcement.
Members should also ensure that their email address and mobile number in ICSI membership records are current before completing the empanelment process. The Institute says the empanelment is valid only for the specific CSEET session, which means a fresh application is required for each session.
Importantly, empanelment does not create a right to receive duty. Allocation of centres and observer assignments remains at the sole discretion of ICSI.
What eligible members should do now
With the 31 August deadline imminent, an eligible member intending to participate should first verify the age and membership-duration requirements, check for any relative or trainee conflict, confirm that none of the disqualifying professional associations apply, and then submit the application through the ICSI Observer Portal. Members should retain a copy of their submission and monitor the portal around the 10 September duty-allotment date.
