GST Compliance Updates: New Rules for E-Invoicing

Read Time:

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has introduced significant changes to the e-invoicing rules aimed at streamlining compliance for businesses. Starting from January 2026, all registered businesses with a turnover exceeding ₹10 crores must adopt e-invoicing.

This move is part of the government's effort to enhance tax compliance and reduce evasion. The new rules mandate that businesses must generate e-invoices for every sale, which will be validated in real-time.

"This step ensures that all transactions are recorded, helping to curb tax evasion and increase revenue for the government," said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
