Alstom SA
Alstom was formed in 1928, when the electrical engineering arm of Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques merged with Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston; its original name, Alsthom, combined parts of both. In November 2015 it sold its energy businesses to General Electric to concentrate on rail, and on 29 January 2021 it completed the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation. Alstom SA, based in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine near Paris and listed on Euronext Paris (ALO), makes Avelia high-speed trains, Coradia regional trains, Citadis trams and Metropolis metro trains, along with signalling, rail infrastructure and maintenance services. In India its main company is Alstom Transport India Limited, registered in Bengaluru, where Alstom also has its main Indian office and a Digital Experience Centre for signalling, opened in December 2023. Its Indian factories include Sri City in Andhra Pradesh, Savli and Maneja in Gujarat, and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. Madhepura Electric Locomotive Private Limited, its joint venture with Indian Railways, builds WAG-12B electric freight locomotives at Madhepura in Bihar.
Its finance openings in India are in Bengaluru and cover record-to-report, inter-company accounting, project controlling, FP&A for its IT function, treasury systems and payments, process improvement for its global finance centre, and finance project management. Several roles ask for a CA or CMA, some also accept CA Inter or a postgraduate degree in accounting or finance, and experience asked for ranges from two years for qualified Chartered Accountants to more than eight years.
