About CA Inter & Semi-Qualified CA Jobs in India

Candidates who have cleared CA Intermediate and completed articleship form one of the largest pools of finance talent in India, and employers hire them on a different logic from qualified CAs. A CA firm wants an audit senior who can run fieldwork and supervise juniors; a company wants an accounts or tax executive who can keep the books and the GST and TDS calendar in order; a finance operations centre wants analysts with strong fundamentals who can be trained on a global client’s processes and systems. The two to three years of articleship behind each candidate is what puts them a step ahead of a fresh commerce graduate for all three.

The biggest recruiters by volume are the finance and accounting operations centres in Noida, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, followed by mid-sized CA firms and corporates across the metros. Most roles sit at the two-to-five-year band because articleship-era skills are expected, and progression depends on ownership — of a close, a compliance calendar or a process — rather than on finishing the qualification.

Many candidates here are still attempting CA Final, and employers are used to that. Industrial training, exam-leave policies and shift choices all affect how workable the combination is, and the listings state the qualification they accept, so read that line first. Candidates who have decided not to continue CA will find the same roles open, with CMA, ACCA or an MBA as later options on each track.

CA Inter Jobs: frequently asked questions

How do I spot listings here that genuinely accept CA Inter?

Read the qualification line on each listing. Employers write it in several ways: “CA Inter”, “IPCC cleared”, “semi-qualified CA”, “CA Final pending”, “CA dropout”, or “B.Com with CA Inter preferred”. Some add conditions such as both groups cleared or articleship completed. Listings that say “qualified CA only” or “CA with post-qualification experience” are not open to you, however close the role looks. This page is built from listings that accept Intermediate-level candidates, so the ones you see here have already passed that first check.

I am still in articleship. Can I apply for these roles?

Not for full-time roles while articleship is running, since ICAI’s training rules do not allow simultaneous employment. Two options exist. Industrial training in the final part of articleship lets you work inside an eligible company while staying on the training track; check the current rules on the ICAI website. Once articleship ends, every role here is open to you, and the months between the end of articleship and your Final attempt are when most candidates take their first job.

Day job at a CA firm or night shift at an operations centre while preparing for CA Final — which is better for study?

Neither is easy, and the honest answer depends on your exam window. A CA firm keeps you close to the syllabus, with audit, tax and accounts in daily use, but busy season swallows study time without warning. An operations centre is more predictable, often pays more with shift allowances, and larger ones have formal exam-leave policies, but night shifts drain energy. Ask every employer two direct questions before you accept: how do they treat exam leave, and what are the hours during the three months before your attempt.

Why do operations centres pay CA Inter candidates more than CA firms?

Operations and capability centres compete with each other for large numbers of trained accountants, work on global client contracts priced in foreign currency, and add shift and transport allowances, so their starting packages are usually above a mid-sized CA firm. Firms pay less at entry but offer client exposure and the kind of audit and tax depth that is harder to acquire later. Over five years the gap depends on ownership more than on employer type. The bands for 2026 are set out in the semi-qualified CA jobs guide.

I have stopped pursuing CA. How do I put that on a CV without it looking like a failure?

State it as a fact, not an apology: “CA Intermediate (both groups), articleship completed at X; not pursuing Final.” Then move the reader straight to the work: the audits you ran, the returns you filed, the reconciliations you owned, the software you used. Employers hiring for these roles care about what you can do on Monday, and many of their best accounts and audit seniors took the same route. If you want a credential later, the Indian CMA, ACCA or an MBA in finance each fit a different track; the guides on CA versus CMA and CA versus ACCA compare them.

Where does this track lead in five years without the CA qualification?

Further than most candidates expect, provided you take ownership. A typical path runs from analyst or accounts executive to owning a process or a compliance calendar by the second year, leading a small team or an entity close by the third or fourth, and reaching a controllership, process-owner or compliance-lead role by the fifth. Each step is visible on a CV and paid accordingly. Candidates who add a relevant qualification along the way, or clear CA Final later, move through the last steps faster.

This page overlaps with B.Com jobs. Should I apply to both?

Yes. Many listings accept either qualification, and a CA Inter candidate with articleship is usually the stronger applicant for them. Apply through whichever page shows the role, and also browse B.Com jobs, record to report jobs, accounts payable jobs and GST jobs, which collect the functions that hire semi-qualified candidates most often. A free account turns your qualification, city and experience into a daily alert for new matches.
