About the company
Amazon India
Amazon.com, Inc. was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 as an online bookshop and is today one of the world's largest companies, spanning online retail, cloud computing through Amazon Web Services (AWS), digital media, devices and advertising. It is headquartered in Seattle and listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Amazon launched its Indian marketplace, Amazon.in, in 2013, and its businesses in India now include the marketplace, Amazon Pay, Amazon Business, Prime Video and AWS, which runs two Indian cloud regions — Mumbai (2016) and Hyderabad (2022). Its Hyderabad campus, opened in 2019, was at the time Amazon's largest campus building anywhere in the world.
Beyond serving Indian customers, Amazon's India offices handle a significant share of the company's global finance work: finance operations (accounts payable, receivables and payments), controllership and accounting, worldwide direct and indirect tax reporting, financial planning and business finance for its retail, AWS and payments businesses, and audit, risk and compliance programmes. These roles suit CA, CMA, CPA, ACCA and MBA (Finance) profiles as well as B.Com and M.Com graduates.
