Apollo Global India | Principal - Underwriting/Research Lead

Primary responsibilities

• Through Athene, our retirement services business, we specialize in helping clients achieve financial security by providing a suite of retirement savings products and acting as a solutions provider to institutions.
• As part of the team, the candidate will work alongside respective sector leads and Portfolio Managers to maximize the return potential of investments while also collaborating with the larger Credit Research team.
• The role is a blend of Team Lead and Individual Contributor the candidate will be responsible for leading a team of analysts on the credit analysis as well as maintaining / initiating coverage on a portfolio of issuers.
• The candidate, together with the larger Analyst team, will be responsible for evaluating the credit quality of issuers and support lead analyst on primary and secondary deals while monitoring existing exposures.
• The candidate should demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and be capable of conducting thorough quality checks (QC)
• Creating a finalized product: Preparing Investment Memos including identification of investment catalysts and provide recommendations IG instruments.
• Presenting the primary/secondary deals to the investment committee and clearly articulating your opinion.
• Maintain portfolio coverage including regular model updates and earning summary write-ups.
• Checking the work of and training younger analysts, as required.
• Driving Systemic Quality mindset across teams, implement and maintain best research delivery practices.
• Building detailed financial models with KPI driven Revenue projections, Cost drivers, Working capital analysis, Capex schedule, Capital Structure analysis, Covenant analysis, Default & Recovery workouts and IRR sensitivities and valuations.
• Take full ownership of the investment view and continuously monitor key developments affecting the issuers credit quality.

Experience: 7-12 years

• Industry experience: PE / Investment Banking / Credit Research with high modelling skills.
• Experience supporting equity research and/or FIG(M&A) at banks or PE firms. Ideally modelling writing reports.
• Excellent corporate credit analysis skills from a fundamental perspective.
• Proficiency in building detailed financial models and preparing investment memos besides having excellent analytical skills.
• Generalist with sector exposure in any of TMT, IT, Healthcare, Autos, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Chemical sectors, Utilities or corporate finance background in a sell side firm.
• Proficiency in using Databases & Portfolio Asset Management Systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality research.
• Prior record of having worked on competitive Pilots will be an added advantage.
