About Internal Audit Jobs in India
Internal auditors give management and the audit committee an independent view of whether risks are controlled. The work involves planning risk-based audits, process walkthroughs, preparing or reviewing risk and control matrices, testing samples, and writing observations with agreed management actions. Many roles focus on controls testing, either SOX for companies listed in the US or internal financial controls (IFC) under the Companies Act for Indian companies. Employers include Big 4 and advisory risk practices, in-house audit functions of Indian corporates and banks, and global centres that test controls for overseas group entities.
CA Inter candidates and newly qualified CAs often start as associates or consultants in advisory firms, moving to senior, assistant manager and manager. In-house teams use titles such as auditor, senior auditor and audit manager. CIA, CISA (for IT audit), ACCA and CMA qualifications are also valued. Commonly requested skills include the COSO framework, sampling, data analysis in Excel or audit analytics tools, and concise report writing. Advisory and corporate roles can involve travel to plants or branches. In interviews, explain one control you tested end to end, including how you chose the sample.
