About Transfer Pricing Jobs in India
Transfer pricing deals with the prices charged between companies in the same multinational group, such as fees for services, royalties, loans and the sale of goods. Specialists prepare documentation explaining the group’s functions, assets and risks (FAR analysis), select a suitable method such as TNMM or CUP, and run benchmarking searches on company databases to find comparables. Other work includes intercompany agreements, country-by-country reporting, advance pricing agreements and support during tax assessments or appeals. Openings come mainly from Big 4 and advisory firms, global tax centres and in-house tax teams of multinationals.
Analyst and associate roles suit CA Inter candidates, newly qualified CAs and commerce postgraduates with strong analytical skills; senior consultant, assistant manager and manager roles generally expect qualified CAs with prior TP experience. Useful skills include financial analysis of comparables, working-capital and risk adjustments, careful report writing and a working knowledge of the OECD guidelines and Indian TP rules. Work peaks around the annual compliance season, so expect busy periods. A good preparation step is to read a published tribunal ruling on comparables and be ready to discuss it.
