About the company
A.P. Moller - Maersk
Maersk has been in business since 1904 and is run from Copenhagen, where its parent, A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S, is listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen. Its roots are in container shipping, but it now describes itself as an integrated container logistics company, linking ocean freight, port terminals, inland transport and air cargo for customers in about 130 countries. In India, Maersk Line India Private Limited has its registered office in Mumbai, and the group has offices in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Kolkata and New Delhi. Its Global Service Centres, set up in 1999, run finance, commercial, operations and technology work for the group from Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune.
Finance hiring at the service centres in Chennai, Mumbai and Pune covers account-to-report (ATR) accounting, cost and financial controlling, financial analysis and reporting, finance business partnering, SG&A analysis, indirect tax operations and tax audit, and treasury settlements. Most postings ask for a Chartered Accountant or an MBA in Finance, and many also accept a Cost Accountant (ICWA/CMA), ACCA or CPA. Some are open to semi-qualified CAs or CA/CWA finalists, several look for a good grasp of IFRS, and one treats a law degree as an added advantage.
