About Chartered Accountant (CA) Jobs in India

India has well over four lakh Chartered Accountants, and the market for them has changed shape in the last decade. Practice — audit, tax and advisory in CA firms from the Big 4 to sole proprietors — still absorbs a large share of each new batch, but the fastest-growing employers are the India centres of global banks and multinationals, which now run financial reporting, product control, fund accounting and internal audit for group companies around the world from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Pune and Chennai. Add listed companies and conglomerates, NBFCs and insurers, finance operations centres and a growing set of technology companies, and the result is a wider range of CA roles than at any point before.

Three things set the tone for hiring in 2026. Regulatory change keeps compliance and reporting teams busy: the Income-tax Act, 2025 is being implemented with new forms and section numbers, GST litigation continues to grow, and audit quality is under closer scrutiny from NFRA. Global capability centres keep expanding their finance teams and increasingly hire CAs for process ownership rather than transaction work. And technology — ERP migrations, analytics, automation in reconciliation and audit — rewards CAs who combine accounting judgement with system skills.

The listings on this page cut across all of these employers. Each shows the city, the experience asked for, the qualification and, where the employer states it, the work mode and last date, and every application completes on the employer’s own site. Use the summaries on this page to see where openings cluster, and the related pages below to narrow by city, function or company.

CA Jobs: frequently asked questions

Are CA jobs in India really saturated, or is that only true for certain roles?

Both things are true at once. Entry-level audit and tax seats in the metros are crowded because every batch of newly qualified CAs applies to the same firms in the same months, so those roles are competitive and pay modestly. At the same time, employers struggle to find CAs who can run an Ind AS close independently, handle GST litigation, work inside SAP or Oracle, or manage a US GAAP reporting process for a global team, and those roles stay open for weeks. The practical lesson is to build one or two of those skills early rather than competing on the qualification alone. The “Current job functions” summary on this page shows where demand sits today.

In a normal week, how different is a CA job in practice from one in industry?

In a CA firm the week is organised around client engagements: planning and fieldwork for an audit, a tax filing or a due diligence, reviewing juniors’ work, documenting it, and moving to the next client when the engagement closes. Several clients and industries pass through your hands in a year. In a company you own one set of books: month-end close and reporting, budgets and forecasts, tax and compliance calendars, audits from the other side of the table, and decisions taken with sales, operations and management. Practice builds breadth and review discipline; industry builds depth and business judgement. The practice versus corporate job guide compares the two over a full career.

I have three years in audit. How do CAs make the move into industry, banking or deals?

The move is common and usually happens between the second and fifth year after qualifying. Audit experience maps most directly to financial reporting and controllership roles in companies, to financial control, product control and internal audit at banks, and to due diligence in deal advisory. Identify which of these you want, then close the gap: financial instruments and reconciliations for banks, modelling and sector knowledge for deals, month-end ownership and ERP exposure for corporates. Lateral openings for that band sit under financial reporting, banking and corporate finance, and the financial due diligence career guide gives a transition plan for the deals route.

Are there government or public sector jobs for Chartered Accountants?

Yes. Public sector undertakings, public sector banks, insurers, regulators and government bodies hire CAs for finance and accounts, internal audit, treasury, taxation and project finance, usually through advertised recruitment with written tests and interviews, through ICAI campus placement, or on fixed-term contracts for specialist work. These openings follow their own calendars and strict eligibility windows rather than appearing on company portals daily, so watch official notifications alongside this page. Many such roles are based in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, and the CA jobs in Delhi page explains the public sector side of that market.

Can an Indian CA work abroad with this qualification?

Yes, with planning. ICAI has mutual recognition or membership pathway arrangements with several overseas accounting bodies, which shorten the route to a local qualification in countries such as Canada, Australia and the UK; the current list and conditions are on the ICAI website. In the Gulf, Indian CAs are hired directly by banks, groups and audit firms without a second qualification. The other route is internal: join the India centre of a global bank or professional services network and transfer later. Roles outside India appear here when employers list them, and the country filter on job vacancies separates them.

What do employers mean by “qualified CA with 3 to 5 years”, and does articleship count?

Post-qualification experience, counted from the month you became a member; articleship does not count towards it however relevant the work was. A “managerial” label on a listing usually means five or more years and responsibility for a team or a client portfolio. Read the experience line before applying: employers rarely screen a two-year CA into a five-year role, but they do read articleship carefully for roles marked 0–2 years, which are collected on CA fresher jobs.

Which skills are employers asking CAs for in 2026?

Beyond the core syllabus, listings repeatedly mention Ind AS and IFRS reporting, GST compliance and litigation, the transition to the Income-tax Act, 2025 with its new forms and section numbers, internal controls and SOX testing, and hands-on use of SAP or Oracle. Banks ask for financial instruments accounting and regulatory reporting; insurers for Ind AS 117 readiness; listed companies for BRSR and sustainability reporting. Power BI, SQL and automation tools are moving from “nice to have” to expected in reporting roles. Match the exact terms on your CV to the listing, because recruiters search on them.

How do I make the most of this page?

Use the “Companies currently hiring”, “Major locations” and “Current job functions” summaries to see where openings are concentrated, then narrow with the filters on job vacancies by city, company, experience and work mode. Each listing shows the employer, location and requirements and links to the official application page. Newly qualified? Start on CA fresher jobs. At Intermediate or Final level? CA Inter and semi-qualified jobs. Targeting the Big 4? Big 4 jobs. A free account turns your preferences into a daily alert so you can apply early.
