About Compliance Jobs in India
Compliance teams make sure an organisation follows the laws, regulations and internal policies that apply to it. In financial services that means RBI, SEBI or IRDAI requirements, anti-money laundering and KYC under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, sanctions screening, trade and communications surveillance, and regulatory reporting. In corporates the focus shifts to anti-bribery, codes of conduct, insider trading rules, data privacy and statutory compliance tracking. Testing and monitoring roles check whether controls work in practice, and advisory roles interpret new rules for the business.
The usual ladder runs from compliance analyst or KYC analyst to senior analyst, compliance manager, AVP or VP in global banks, and chief compliance officer. CS, CA and law graduates are common, and MBA, B.Com and M.Com candidates often start in KYC and screening operations. Certifications such as CAMS and the relevant NISM modules add credibility, and employers value careful reading of regulations and clear documentation. In compliance jobs, name the regulator and rule sets you have worked with, since each regulator’s requirements are quite different.
