ICAI Pauses Self-Paced Module Tests from October 11-20, 2026 for SPMT Portal Upgrade
Read Time:
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced a temporary pause in Self-Paced Online Module Tests because of planned maintenance and software upgradation of the SPMT portal.
What ICAI has announced
In an announcement dated 24 August 2026, ICAI's Examination Department said that Self-Paced Online Module Tests will not be conducted from 11 October 2026 to 20 October 2026.
The Institute has linked the pause specifically to maintenance and upgradation work in the software of the SPMT portal.
When slot booking will resume
ICAI has stated that slot booking for SPMT will resume from 21 October 2026 onwards. Students planning to take a Self-Paced Online Module Test around this period should therefore account for both the test blackout window and the restart date for slot booking.
What students should do
Students who were planning an SPMT attempt in mid-October should review their preparation and test-booking plans now rather than waiting until the portal maintenance period begins. The official notice does not announce any test dates inside the 11-20 October window; instead, it states that tests will not be conducted during that period.
Students should rely on ICAI's Examination Department announcement and the relevant ICAI examination portal for any later changes to the maintenance window or booking process.
