ICMAI Opens Exam Application for Taxation Courses Scheduled for August 30, 2026
The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) opened the examination application for its taxation courses for the exam held on 30 August 2026. The notice appeared on ICMAI's Taxation Knowledge Portal as "Exam Application for Taxation Courses_Exam dated 30.08.2026", with applications routed through the Institute's online course examination system on eicmai.in. The courses are run by ICMAI's Tax Research Department.
Who the exam is for
The exam is for learners enrolled in ICMAI's certificate and advanced courses in direct and indirect tax. Enrolment in a course does not complete the exam application; candidates have to apply separately for the exam date through the portal. According to ICMAI's taxation courses page, most of these courses end with an online test of 100 objective questions over 2 hours, with 50% as the pass mark and an exam fee of Rs 1,000 plus 18% GST. For two advanced courses, the exam fee is included in the course fee.

ICMAI offers a 20% fee discount to members and CMA Final candidates on some courses, including the Income Tax Act, 2025 course, the GST certificate course and the International Trade course. A separate GST course for college and university students (32 hours, Rs 1,000 plus GST, offline) has a different exam: one hour, objective and descriptive questions, with 15 out of 50 marks needed to pass.
Results and certificates
ICMAI has since published the online result for the taxation course exams held on 30 August 2026 and 13 September 2026. The result page says physical certificates will be dispatched to passed candidates within one month. Candidates can check their result on the eicmai.in results page and raise queries with the Tax Research Department.
The Taxation Knowledge Portal also lists earlier exam cycles, including exams dated 20 August 2023, 4 February 2024, 1 September 2024 and 8 March 2026, which shows the courses run on a recurring exam calendar. Candidates who missed the 30 August sitting should watch the portal's News and Updates section for the next exam application.
What candidates should do
- Use only the application link on ICMAI's Taxation Knowledge Portal, not forwarded links.
- Check that the course, candidate details and exam fee payment are correct before submitting.
- Keep the payment acknowledgement until the result is out.
- For the 30 August 2026 exam, check the result and track dispatch of the physical certificate.
