CA Foundation Result September 2026

The CA Foundation result September 2026 is out. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) declared it on 6 November 2026, and 19,736 of the 1,04,240 candidates who appeared cleared the examination, a pass percentage of 18.93%. Kansika of Hisar and Mahek Gupta of Hyderabad share All India Rank 1 with 361 marks out of 400 (90.25%).

ICAI had said on 1 November, in its announcement on the September 2026 Foundation result date, that the result would come by the evening of 6 November. Candidates can now see their marks on the ICAI results portal by entering the registration number and the roll number printed on the September 2026 admit card. The examination was conducted at 580 centres.

CA Foundation September 2026 pass percentage: male and female candidates

Men did better than women this session. Of 53,398 male candidates, 10,931 passed (20.47%). Of 50,842 female candidates, 8,805 passed (17.32%). The gap of a little over three percentage points is wider than in the May 2026 session, when ICAI's figures put men at 20.88% and women at 19.24%, a gap of 1.64 points.

Set against May 2026 the headline rate has slipped, but the number of new qualifiers has grown. According to the ICAI press release on the May 2026 Foundation result, 18,124 of 90,217 candidates passed then, a rate of 20.09%. In September, 14,023 more students sat the paper and 1,612 more cleared it. The rate fell by 1.16 percentage points because the extra candidates passed at a lower rate than the base.

CA Foundation September 2026 toppers list

Two candidates tied at the top and two more tied two marks behind them. The all-India rank holders named in ICAI's release are:

RankNameCityMarks (out of 400)Percentage
AIR 1KansikaHisar36190.25%
AIR 1Mahek GuptaHyderabad36190.25%
AIR 2Sparsh KhandelwalAjmer35989.75%
AIR 2J JayanthChennai35989.75%
AIR 3Vaibhavi SinghalGwalior35889.50%

The winning score is lower than last session's. In May 2026 the topper, Sakshi Jain of Nashik, scored 371 (92.75%), and the third rank went to 365 marks. This time the whole top three sits within a three-mark band between 358 and 361, which tells you how bunched the top of the field was. ICAI President CA. Prasanna Kumar D congratulated the successful candidates and asked them to put their training to work for society and the country's economic growth.

The Foundation result came 15 days after the Intermediate result. ICAI declared the Intermediate result on 22 October, when 13.21% of candidates cleared both groups; CA Samaaj covered the CA Intermediate September 2026 result and toppers separately.

How to check the CA Foundation result on caresults.icai.org

The marks statement is available only online. Open the results portal, choose the Foundation result for September 2026, enter the registration number and roll number, fill in the captcha and submit. Download and keep a PDF of the marks statement, since it is the document you will use for registering in the Intermediate course or for any request on your answer books.

A candidate passes Foundation only by meeting two tests together: at least 40 marks in each of the four papers, and at least 200 marks out of 400 in aggregate. A total of 215 does not help a candidate who scored 38 in Quantitative Aptitude, and four papers at 45 each (180 in total) is also a fail. There is no exemption for individual papers at the Foundation level, so a candidate who misses either test writes all four papers again.

Did not clear? CA Foundation January 2027 form last date is 16 November

For the 84,504 candidates who did not pass, the next attempt is close. Under the ICAI notice for the January 2027 Foundation and Intermediate examinations, the Foundation papers are on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027. The application window opened on 3 November 2026. The last date without late fee is 16 November 2026; from 17 to 19 November the form can still be filed with a late fee of ₹600 (for Indian centres). The examination fee for an Indian centre is ₹1,500. Between 20 and 22 November, candidates may change the examination city or medium in a form already submitted, but this window does not reopen fresh applications.

That leaves nine days from the result to the normal deadline. A candidate who is two or three marks short in one paper may be tempted to wait for a check of the answer book first. That plan does not work on the calendar. Applications for certified copies of answer books can be made within 30 days of the result, which for a 6 November declaration runs into the first week of December, well after the January form closes on 19 November. The safer course is to file the January 2027 form now and pursue the answer-book request in parallel. The detailed steps for both, and the cut-off dates for registering in the Intermediate course, are set out in CA Samaaj's earlier piece on how to check the Foundation result and what to do next.

Passed CA Foundation: Intermediate registration timeline

Successful candidates move to the Intermediate course, which requires a fresh registration on the ICAI self-service portal. The date of registration decides the first Intermediate attempt, because ICAI requires a minimum study period before a student can appear. Students who register on or before 1 January 2027 keep the September 2027 Intermediate examination open to them; the May 2027 attempt is already out of reach for this batch. Missing 1 January pushes the first possible attempt to January 2028.

Registration is done online and the marks statement from this result is needed for it. The full January 2027 schedule and fee chart for those re-appearing are summarised in CA Samaaj's report on the CA January 2027 exam form, last date and fees.

The next date that counts for most of the 1,04,240 candidates is 16 November 2026, the last day to apply for the January 2027 Foundation examination without paying the ₹600 late fee.
