Hyderabad’s finance hiring mirrors its capability-centre economy. Large technology and online retail companies keep planning, revenue and business partnering teams here for their global units, banks and financial services firms run risk, analytics and operations teams, and pharma and life-sciences groups add commercial finance and planning roles. Most of these teams work from HITEC City, Madhapur, Gachibowli and the Financial District at Nanakramguda, on the west side of the city. For a finance MBA, that means analytical work with defined career ladders and regular movement between teams.
Revenue and business finance teams at technology companies tend to test SQL or a BI tool alongside Excel, while pharma commercial finance focuses on product margins, pricing and launch budgets. Choosing between the two early shapes the next few years of experience.
Most teams sit in HITEC City, Madhapur, Gachibowli and the Financial District at Nanakramguda. The work is mainly FP&A, revenue, business finance and reporting for technology and e-commerce companies, plus risk, analytics and operations at banks and financial services firms, and commercial finance at pharma groups. The “Current job functions” list on this page shows the current split.
Yes. Several large technology and e-commerce companies run substantial finance teams here, which means a steady flow of analyst roles and clear routes to senior analyst and manager. Experience gained supporting a global business unit transfers well between employers. See FP&A jobs and corporate finance jobs.
Tracking product margins, supporting pricing and launch budgets, analysing sales and distribution costs, and working with plants on cost of goods. It suits candidates who like linking numbers to products and operations, and the experience carries well into business finance roles elsewhere.
A lot in revenue, analytics and risk teams, where SQL or a BI tool is often tested alongside Excel. You do not need deep programming, but pulling and shaping data yourself makes your analysis faster and more credible, and it is a common tie-breaker in interviews.
Both are capability-centre markets. Bengaluru has more banking risk and consulting roles; Hyderabad has a stronger pharma base and lower living costs. If you have a target employer, go where its finance team sits.
The tools you used (Excel modelling, a BI tool, SQL if relevant), any forecast, revenue or margin analysis from your internship or earlier work, and one or two results with numbers. For pharma roles, add any exposure to product costing or sales analytics. Many of the same roles also appear on CA jobs in Hyderabad, and the interview questions guide shows how these teams test candidates.
